Diane Landry
Shadow projection

Diane Landry's magically playful installations and performances alter our perception of all that is familiar. Often integrating diverse recycled materials, Landry manipulates objects into automated, kinetic installations, subjecting matter to a deliberate play of light and shadow, the rhythm of movement and the performance of our perception. Playing with her signature use of spectacular cast shadows -- monumental in relation to the reality that creates them -- Landry will create a new site-specific work for Nuit Blanche responding directly to this urban site.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Landry's work integrates the sense of time one experiences in performance and the sense of space one experiences with installation. As material work that one should observe over a period of time before it can be experienced in its entirety, her practice often generates movements, sounds, reflections and/or odours, appealing to more than one sense at a time.
Based in Québec City, since 1987 Diane Landry has performed and exhibited in Canada, as well as the United States, Mexico, Argentina, France, Belgium, Austria, Germany and Sweden.
In association with MaRS Discovery District.
