You Are Here
Lewis Kaye
Sound Art

You Are Here, a series of aural premonitions or a meditation on the animation of city space, creates a portable audio forum located in your personal MP3 player. Listen to Lewis Kaye on your headphones. Each track, composed in collaboration with some of the exhibiting artists, is a sonic invitation to an artwork. A portable piece downloaded prior to the exhibition, cityscape meets soundscape in this official audio guide made up of your arrangement of site-specific binaural recordings. Participation is an instrument of its composition. Plan your journey to the end of the night according to the sounds of each artwork in a personal play-list. Listen on site to your customized audio guide, as the sounds of the recordings resonate with the existing city sounds. . . and you. Make noise with a network of active listeners, a new impromptu community, a soundtrack for the city, formed while You Are Here. . .
An MP3 player is recommended, but not required to participate. Download at the nearest internet café or visit the Listening Station at the Zone A Information Hub.
Lewis Kaye is a sound artist and doctoral candidate at York and Ryerson Universities in Toronto.
