Culture from the Ground Up: "What's Past is Prologue…”
Group exhibition
Toronto Public Library presents a compelling exploration of Toronto's grass roots culture. Through this unique collection of documentary evidence, experience the look and feel of culture from the ground up -- the passion, tastes and trends that created folk music, protests and draft resistance and now fuel hip hop, spoken word, graffiti art and raves.
At the Toronto Reference Library, recall the glory days of Rochdale and other counterculture landmarks. Enjoy wellknown and first-time authors, artists and musicians, perform your own stories and songs or create your own graffiti. Plus, enjoy a virtual tour of the world's greatest art galleries at the Information Commons.
Just steps away at the Yorkville Branch, illuminated light and art displays "dress up" Toronto's oldest public library, as young and old enjoy storytellers and performers on its steps.
