Garden of Light, 2006
Jamelie Hassan
Installation consisting of night-blooming lilies, plastic lily lights, ceramic elements

Garden of Light reflects on the idea of the garden, with the floating lily as a symbol of peace. The light within the flower illuminates the water garden, interspersed with night-blooming lilies, to highlight this tranquil site, offering the visitor a place of beauty and reflection. Ceramic texts of individual letters spell out the word "eventually" and are placed randomly around the pool.
Designed by noted landscape architect Paul Ehnes, The Lester B. Pearson Garden for Peace and Understanding provides a serene oasis commemorating Pearson's life, work, and contribution to world peace. It is an eloquent statement of what Pearson, Canada's fourteenth Prime Minister and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, believed in.
Jamelie Hassan was born in London, Ontario and continues to make it her home.
